Part 135 Grace Month Calculator
Quick Answer
Under 14 CFR 135.301(a), a pilot who completes a required test or check in the calendar month before or after the month it is due is treated as completing it in the month due, so the base month does not move. Knowledge, competency and line checks are due every 12 calendar months; instrument proficiency checks every 6 (135.293, 135.299, 135.297).

How it works
- Taken in the due month, or the month before or after it, a check counts as taken in the due month, so the base month does not drift (135.301(a)).
- Taken earlier than the window, it starts a new base month from the month it was taken.
- Line check: pilots in command only (135.299(a)). Instrument proficiency check: pilots in command who fly under IFR, every 6 calendar months, in rotation between types for a pilot assigned to more than one (135.297(a), (e)).
For planning; your approved training program, OpSpecs and principal operations inspector govern.
FileFlo keeps every pilot's checks, training and medical dates for Part 135 operators.
